Homemade Litter Box -- make it yourself

Better Litter Box make it yourself

Better Litter Box make it yourself

In fifty years of having kitties, I find this works the best. Many others like it also. Make it yourself in fifteen minutes.

Full instructions with photos here:

http://www.catsadored.com/LITTERBOXES/LITTER_BOXES.htm

1. Many kitties kick litter out of the box when they cover their deposits.

2. Some older or arthritic kitties don't always aim their streams down past the top lip of a shallow box.

3. You don't have to bend all the way to the floor to lift it.

4. This box is nearly impossible for even a 20-pound cat to tip over. Most shallow boxes flip easily with weight on the edge and even more so when using a lightweight load of litter.

5. Most boxes are too small. This isn't.

5 cats love it
by: Anonymous

Have been using a 27 gallon tub for my five cats and they love it. One of them started pooping on the floor and I realized it was the cover; took off cover, no issues. I truly wish I had found this idea years ago. I use one of those telescoping pet scoops so I don't have to bend over.

TALL Litter Box for Male Cats
by: Adam

Yeah, it's a good idea. Just make sure your box is much TALLER than your cat.

I also tried this with mine because he doesn't like to squat very much when urinating. He prefers to go against the wall. Why oh why? ;-)

I should have gotten a box that was much bigger but decided against it. I haven't really had any problems except for cleaning up the walls of the box when it starts to smell like urine (every other day) but I worry a little bit because I think it could be a little bit higher.

Homemade Litter Box
by: Cat Mom

I came to this site to see if I could find a litter box that my male cat couldn't pee over the top of. I bought a large litter box (I have two cats), and he started peeing over the top of the tallest end. I went back to a box with a lid, and he still peed above the top lid causing urine to leak through the side of the box an on to the floor.

I have several of this size containers around my house. Can't wait to try it. A previous comment indicated it solved the same problem I'm having.

Thanks!

Thanks!

This is a very cool idea and I tried this myself. My boy no longer sprays on the wall due to a low litter box. Great suggestion and thanks.
