Kittens won't use litter box consistently

My cat had kittens back in January and now the kittens will use the litter box but they also use the floor. The litter box is cleaned daily but they still go in the carpet.

I'm not sure what to do about the kittens. They know where their box is but they only use it when they feel like it. I've tried other brands of cat litter and powders but nothing seems to work.

Please help!!!!

I'm very sorry for your troubles. If the kittens are using the litter box but also having accidents on the carpet, you may want to consider cleaning the stained areas with a vinegar and water solution. They might be picking up the scent of their urine and mistakenly think that this is the spot to go in.

See this page on removing cat urine odor to help you get you started.

You can also find some good enzymatic cleaners to neutralize the odor at your local pet store.

You might also want to try Dr Elsey's Cat Attract Litter for kittens. The odor in the litter is supposed to naturally pique a kitten's curiosity and encourage them to use the box. I believe the kitten formula can be used for kittens over 4 months old.

You might also want to make sure the box isn't too tall for the kittens to climb into. If it's too high for them they might have problems jumping in and just go next to it.
